My 1st grader actually asks to play with this, which says a lot. The wooden pieces are sturdy enough that dropping them on the tile floor hasn't chipped anything yet, and she's already matching 1/2 and 1/4 without me prompting her.
My four-year-old asks to do the puzzle every evening now instead of watching TV, which says a lot. The circle piece breaks into such satisfying chunks that she can finally understand why two quarters equal a half.
My four-year-old asks for this puzzle every single day now. The wooden pieces are chunky enough for her little hands to grip, and she's already calling out the different shapes and colors as she sorts them. It's been a great way to sneak in some fraction talk without her realizing she's learning.
